Journey's End
‘This [song] means a lot to me. I am not so good with words so I don’t think I could explain it that well but it’s hope, it’s life, resilience, defiance, it’s the joy and beauty of all life that will not be extinguished. Nothing can touch it. It’s love. — Freya Dudley
“Where there’s life there’s hope as my Gaffer used to say; and need of vittles as he most ways used to add.” Samwise Gamgee
In western lands beneath the Sun
The flowers may rise in Spring,
The trees may bud, the waters run,
The merry finches sing.
Or there maybe ’tis cloudless night,
And swaying branches bear
The Elven-stars as jewels white
Amid their branching hair.
Though here at journey’s end I lie
In darkness buried deep,
Beyond all towers strong and high,
Beyond all mountains steep,
Above all shadows rides the Sun
And Stars for ever dwell:
I will not say the Day is done,
Nor bid the Stars farewell.
