Freya's Oak

Freya had a reverence for the beauty and longevity of trees, and for the myths and folklore that surround them. She asked for a tree to be dedicated to her:

I would like a tree; something with flowers or an old English species like and oak or a horse chestnut. I would love it to be in a public place – somewhere beautiful.

Freya’s oak is a “notable tree” (number 46702 in the Woodland Trust's Ancient Tree Inventory) and can be found in Shotover Hill Country Park. Freya lived near Shotover and visited the park and photographed the trees there many times.
